This my dear Red is written in toto with your post about this sad day in history. Red’s thought’s from that day.
I was at the Marina with my brother in law and father in law. We were in the back building popping a hull form out of a mold for a boat we were making. We had stopped to have a cold one. When my brother in law turned on the tv. I was speaking to my father in law and heard the reporter say:
“John Lennon was dead at the age of 40 at 10:55pm tonight Monday December 8, 1980″.
As I turned around not thinking I had heard what I had just heard. I saw my brother in law’s bottle of brew smash on the floor.
All I remember of that moment was Fuck No, this cant be real… Not him. All he lived and breathed for was his music and peace for all mankind.
A small part of me died with him that day.
You have to understand. I have been a Beatles fan since I first heard them as a small child in a very small town in the south of Wales.
At one point in my life I think I have owned at least 1 copy of every album and 45 they made.
Anyway I digress… I remember the day very well…
We lost a Legend, A Great Advocate for the peaceful resolution to the worlds problems.
A soldier of Freedom. And a Musical Genius.
The World is a lesser place for his loss…
a very sad Dragon,
